Fortnite V8.51 Patch Notes Are Here, Launching the Shadow Bomb

A smaller patch for the final week of Fortnite Season 9.

A new batch of Fortnite patch notes are here, but temper your expectations. Before the final week of challenges for Fortnite Season 8 go live later today, the Fortnite v8.51 patch introduces the Shadow Bomb.

The Shadow Bomb is the only new addition to the game in this new patch. It can be found in floor loot, chests, Supply Drops, and Supply Llamas, and is an Uncommon item. The Shadow Bomb shrouds you in smoke for 6 seconds, letting you move around unseen, even being able to temporarily double jump and jump off of walls for increased altitude. Essentially, it turns you into a ninja.

And that's basically it for Fortnite patch v8.51. Aside from the Shadow Bomb there's a fix for an audio issue where the Jetpacks were sounding far louder than they should be, but that's it.

We mentioned previously that this is probably the final patch before Fortnite Season 9 launches next week. The next seasonal event is due to kick off on May 8, and for more information on the new season, head over to our Fortnite Season 9 guide.

Recently, Epic has been under scrutiny after crunch practices were revealed in their offices. An original report over at Polygon highlighted how months of intense pressure to keep players engaged with the hit Battle Royale game took a toll on workers, physically and mentally.
