Fortnite V9.01 Patch Notes Add the Tactical Assault Rifle, Vaults the Compact SMG

So long, Compact SMG, it's been good.

It wouldn't be a week without some brand new Fortnite Battle Royale patch notes. Fortnite Patch V9.01 is out right now, and the headline addition is the new Tactical Assault Rifle.

The Fortnite V9.01 patch notes were revealed as always on the official Epic Games website. The Tactical Assault Rifle comes in Rare, Epic, and Legendary variants, is fully automatic, and deals anywhere between 22 and 24 damage as standard.

The new Tactical Assault Rifle. | Epic

"Due to the recent addition of the Drum Gun and the brand new Tactical Assault Rifle, we wanted to reduce the availability of high rate-of-fire weapons," Epic said of the vaulting of the Compact SMG. There certainly wasn't any doubting the SMG as one of the best weapons in Fortnite, but Epic does have a point that there are now a fair few rapid fire weapons in the game.

Slip Streams were one of the big new additions to Fortnite Battle Royale back at the beginning of Season 9. With patch V9.01, Slip Streams will no longer block building, but any players flying through a Slip Stream will destroy all player buildings that they collide with.

And that's it for the Fortnite V9.01 patch notes. The new patch is out right now, on all platforms.
