Fortnite's 2.5.0 Update Includes New Weapons, New Quests, and a Free Outfit for PS Plus Members

Fortnite's latest patch celebrates spring, the Lunar New Year, and the impulse grenade.

All right, Valentine's Day is over. Time to stop with the mushy, lovey-dovey stuff and get back into defending yourself against the blood-hungry hordes in Fortnite.

Patch 2.5.0 is live, and it's a biggie. There are new features galore for the battle royale portion of the game, as well as the core Save the World experience.

Battle royale updates include the Impulse Grenade (which sends opponents flying in the most hilarious way possible), and the ability to find and explore loot-filled shrines scattered across the map. As for Save the World, you'll find Lunar New Year-themed gear, new story-driven content, and weapons with dragon designs.

PlayStation Plus members also have access to a free "Celebration Pack" that includes an exclusive glider and an exclusive outfit. Both items are purely cosmetic. The Celebration Pack is available from now through February 1, 2019. Uh, don't dawdle, I guess.

Finally, the Spring It On! event is live in Save the World. Players (who recently aired worries about Save the World being forgotten in favor of Battle Royale) will find a large assortment of new items, new weapons, and "a tale of love in a storm-ridden world, with the usual Fortnite twist." Aw. Zombie love.

The new patch introduces innumerable tweaks and bug fixes as well. Epic Games has them all chronicled in the game's patch notes.

Fortnite is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
