Today marked the beginning of a very different kind of Gamescom. With the world deep in the middle of a pandemic, Gamescom has gone fully online. Gamescom 2020: Opening Night Live is a digital event celebrating all the many games coming to consoles and PC in the second half of this year and beyond.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
The event began with a game that's already been revealed, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The new Black Ops title takes the series to 1981 and it's a direct sequel to the first Black Ops. The game adds new options like a character creation mode, which lets players create their own characters and military backgrounds. Cold War also adds player choice, allowing you to choose how you tackle missions, leading to multiple endings.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is coming to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, adn PlayStation 5 on November 13, 2020.
Unknown 9: Awakening
Unknown 9 is the story of a young woman, Haruna, who is trying to survive on the streets of India when she realizes she has kick-ass powers. The trailer shows Haruna coming into her powers, but lacked any indication of what kind of game it is. The key art at the end of the trailer shows a larger cast of characters, including an older Haruna. Unknown 9 comes from Reflector Entertainment and is headed for PC and next-generation consoles.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part One
The first story DLC for Doom Eternal picks up from the end of the story campaign. Samuel Hayden sends the Doom Slayer to new worlds in order to face off against new enemies. There are more demons to face and new Makyr foes with the power to possess other enemies. There's also the tease of a double Marauder encounter if you already felt the thing was the worst enemy ever. Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part One is coming just in time for Halloween, on October 20, 2020.
Dragon Age 4
Electronic Arts and BioWare brought another early look at the next Dragon Age to Gamescom 2020. Following an aspirational trailer with many of the developers, BioWare showed off further concept art, voice acting, and pre-alpha gameplay visualizations. The new Dragon Age looks like it'll take us underwater for the first time in series' history, we hear Solas voice actor Gareth David-Lloyd deliver a new line of dialog, and we also hear the voice actors for new characters Bellara and Davrin.
Dragon Age 4 isn't coming anytime soon, but BioWare wants players to know they're all-in on it.
Surgeon Simulator 2
As an odd aside, Doc Brown himself Christopher Lloyd appeared in character to announce... Surgeon Simulator 2. The sequel to the fun surgeon game is available now on Epic Games Store, offering full body control and co-op play to the original experience.
Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead
The next trailer showed a haunted gentleman running from the undead hordes before sitting down and plugging in a laptop. On the laptop is Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead, a new entry that marries the light fun of Bridge Constructor with... zombies? Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead is coming to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, Switch, Android, and iOS in 2020.

To collect a Flashback Tape, you have to reach the tape without dying, making it for the hardest of hardcore. Crash Bandicoot 4 is coming PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 2, 2020.
This indie game is pretty simple in premise: do your best to tear down the structure in front of you. Developer Tuxedo Labs uses a simply voxel art style for the title, which it hopes to launch into Early Access in 2020.
Little Nightmares 2
The dark adventures of Six look like they're continuing on in Little Nightmares 2. Step into the flesh of a very odd creature. Struggling is a co-op physics-based platformer when you take control of this misshapen thing that's just trying to survive. Struggling is available today on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition
One of the classics in the 4X genre returns. Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition offers new 4K graphics, two new civilizations (the Inca and the Swedes), and new game modes like historical battles and challenge missions.
