GameStop, the popular video game physical retailer, is reaching out for potential buyers GameStop confirmed on Tuesday.
In a statement put out by the company, GameStop announced that "it is in exploratory discussions with third parties regarding a potential transaction." GameStop says that there is no guaranteed deal from these discussions, but that GameStop will not "make any additional comments regarding these discussions unless and until it is appropriate to do so."
Reuters reported that Sycamore Partners, a New York-based private equity firm, is interested in GameStop, along with several other potential buyers. Sycamore Partners also invests in retailers like Hot Topic and Staples.
The statement follows reports earlier this week that GameStop was looking for a buyer. The long-running retail chain which sells and trades video games. The Texas-based company operates in 14 different countries.
