GameStop Offering Subscription Program For Preowned Game Rentals

The PowerPass program turns GameStop into your library.

According to a report by Kotaku, GameStop will be offering a new subscription program with pre-owned game rentals. For $60, the PowerPass program turns GameStop's pre-owned catalog into a library for players. Subscribers can check out one game for as long as they want, and when they're done they can bring it back to check out something else.

The $60 covers six months of rental time and at the end of that period, players are able to choose a pre-owned game to keep. The program is planned for a November 19, 2017 launch.

There are a few limitations. The PowerPass program will reportedly only be available to PowerUp Rewards members, so the games can be tracked. Likewise, you can only rent what's available in your local GameStop stores. Otherwise, any pre-owned title can be checked out.

$60 sounds like a pretty penny. Is GameStop's new subscription program worthwhile for you?

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
