Gears of War Esports League Will Reveal Gears 5 Multiplayer This Summer

Here's when we'll get a look at Gears of War 5's multiplayer.

Xbox announced a new partnership with ELEAGUE today to reveal the ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series: The Bonds and Betrayals of Brotherhood. While the title is a mouthful, it's essentially a six-part event series which ties the reveal of the Gears of War 5 multiplayer with a live esports tournament that will also be documented for television.

Starting June 14, ELEAGUE will follow top Gears of War esports players as they transition from Gears 4 to Gears 5 multiplayer. The series will go behind the scenes and give insight into many of the top Gears esports players and their backgrounds, while following them through a live tournament which will culminate in The Invitational at the end of the season.

There, Xbox will debut the Gears 5 Versus multiplayer on Twitch and B/R Live streaming services on July 13-14. So essentially, it's a hybrid of a live tournament, documentary series, and Gears 5 multiplayer reveal.

Gears of War 5 was announced at last year's E3 and is the continuation of the long-running Microsoft shooter series. Gears of War 5 is currently set to release later in 2019 and stars Kait as well as returning heroes like JD, Marcus, and Del.
