Gigantic Finds a New Publishing Partner in Perfect World

Motiga's Gigantic gets a new lease of life with a new publishing partner.

Motiga today announced that its upcoming competitive online title, Gigantic, has a new publishing partner in Perfect World Entertainment. This means that in addition to the existing Xbox One and Windows 10 game clients, a new version of Gigantic will be coming to 64-bit operating systems including Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 via Perfect World's Arc games platform.

"This partnership is a huge step for Motiga, as it allows us to continue working towards realizing the vision the development team had for Gigantic – a great competitive online game," explained Motiga CEO Chris Chung. "Even more so, it accelerates opportunities for Gigantic by having more resources available to us. One of the biggest is being worked on already: an opportunity to bring Gigantic to as many versions of Windows as possible. This will help us introduce Gigantic to a larger audience much quicker than we originally anticipated!"

"We couldn't be more excited about this announcement, as it has been the number one request from our community over the past year. At the same time, we are also working to make significant improvements to the game over the next few months, based largely on the feedback we gathered from our beta community during the last phase of testing."

This is good news for a game whose eventual release seemed questionable. The title was previously delayed into 2016 with a small round of layoffs. The company then laid off a "significant percentage" of its staff in February, saying that the layoffs were temporary. Given this new publishing deal, it looks like those statements were correct.

Gigantic still doesn't have a release date, but this is good news for a game I feel deserved a little more love. Having played a few other action MOBA titles, including Paragon and Battleborn, Gigantic is the one I enjoy the most and that stands as close to my perception of "action MOBA" as possible. Looking forward to it launching.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
