Grand Theft Auto v Mod-In-Progress Shoots Players into Space

"Ground Control to Major Tom: F**k you."

Have you ever watched the protagonists of Grand Theft Auto V bash pedestrians with baseball bats and said to yourself, "These nice boys have so much potential; they could really make something of their lives if they apply themselves?" Probably not. But a fan-made mod aims to turn GTA V's characters into astronauts anyway.

"Grand Theft Space" is a work-in-progress by modder sollaholla and a pack of friends. There's an alien menace gliding inexorably towards earth, and it won't be pretty when they arrive. Your mission is to blast off into the void and stand between the aliens and home.

The mod is supposed to include four new missions in addition to shuttles and lunar vehicles. Oh, and there's a lot of zero-gravity shenanigans at play, too. What does a blood-spatter look like at zero G's? I do not know. I think I'll look that up today.

Grand Theft Auto Space doesn't have a release date yet, but the trailer for the mod should give you a good idea of what sollaholla has on the docket. I have a sudden craving for Astronaut Ice Cream. Do kids still eat that?
