Grandia HD Collection Comes to Nintendo Switch Next Week

The classic series goes portable very soon.

A little slice of classic JRPG goodness is coming to the Nintendo eShop very soon. The Grandia HD Collection, which contains both Grandia and Grandia 2, hits the Nintendo Switch on August 16, with a PC release of the first to follow.

Both Grandia games have been remastered for high definition, with even the original cinematic videos getting some visual enhancements to bring them up to speed. Both games will have Japanese and English audio options, as well as language support for English, Japanese, French, and German.

While Grandia 2 already made its way to the PC, the HD remaster of the first Grandia game is set to come to PC at a later unspecified date. Grandia 2 Anniversary Edition owners on PC will automatically have their title updated to Grandia 2 HD Remaster. Both games will feature widescreen support and customizable resolutions on PC.

The Grandia series used a unique action bar to mix real-time fighting with RPG mechanics, and had a lot of interesting ideas on how to switch up the combat of the time. It's also a very pretty JRPG series with a great soundtrack, composed by Noriyuki Iwadare.

Alongside the Mana Collection and other ports of classics, the Nintendo Switch is quickly becoming a haven for reliving your nostalgic JRPG days on the go. Frankly, we're not complaining. All these HD remasters, alongside full-on remakes of games like Final Fantasy 7 and Trials of Mana means it's a real good time to dig into some classics, right before they're reimagined for modern audiences.
