GTA: Online's Diamond Casino Heist incorporates numerous elements both new and old, but perhaps one of the oldest is the reintroduction of Packie McReary, who appeared both the campaigns of GTA IV and V. However, McReary is hidden and inaccessible until you find and unlock him. We'll show you how to do both right here.
How to Unlock Packie McReary
Packie McReary is unlocked in a random event while playing in the open world of GTA: Online. While playing the game, keep an eye on the map for a small, blue dot appearing close by. This is marking a police van, escorting McReary to jail unless you intervene. Kill the drivers and steal the van to save McReary. You'll have to lose the cops, but once you do (or call Lester to get rid of them) McReary will ask you to bring him back to a safehouse in Los Santos. When that's done, you'll get a small amount of reputation, and McReary will appear as an optional gunman crew member next time you plan for the Casino Heist, asking for 10% of the take when selected. You do not need to have bought an Arcade to trigger this event. Also, don't worry if you or McReary are killed - given enough time, the event will reappear.
Warning: Many players are reporting significant glitches in relation to this random encounter. We ourselves encountered a fun one where the van door wouldn't open, and then we got shot to death. Yay.
Where to Find Packie McReary
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any set location to find McReary, so we simply recommend playing the game as normal and keeping an eye on your map for the telltale blue dot when you're in free roam. Also listen for sirens, even if you're not wanted or no other players are around. It could be the police van.
