Guerrilla Games Hints At Horizon Zero Dawn Sequel on PS5 With Deleted Tweet
Guerrilla has a number of open senior positions for its next game.
Guerrilla Games is key to Sony's PlayStation 5 future. Not only was Horizon Zero Dawn a big success for the PlayStation 4, but Guerrilla Games co-founder Hermen Hulst recently became president of PlayStation's Worldwide Studios. The question now is: What is the studio is currently working on? Horizon Zero Dawn 2 or a new IP?
Well it seems like a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn is more likely. Guerrilla Games is hiring for a number of senior-level positions for its next game. All of the job positions are available on the official Guerrilla Jobs Twitter account, with promotional videos from Horizon Zero Dawn. One job tweeted out was for a Senior AI Programmer, with the hashtag #ps5. That tweet was deleted and reposted without the hashtag, but the internet never forgets and the PS5 subreddit captured a screenshot.

Other open positions include Senior Graphics Programmer, Senior Character Animator, and Principal Cinematic Animator. One position, Lead Creature Animator, is looking for someone with "extensive experience animating animal movement and behavior." All of the machines in Horizon Zero Dawn are based on specific animals, like the deer-like Grazer, or the Snapmaw, which moves like an alligator. There's no concrete details, but the position does potentially point to more Horizon Zero Dawn.
The only hint to a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel prior to now came from an interview with Guerrilla Games executive producer Angie Smets. "I can’t really talk about what’s next, but we obviously didn’t invest seven years into creating this big, rich world and all of the technology for nothing? I hope everyone is super excited for the future," she told GamesBeat back in 2018.
In the meantime, Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the PlayStation 4 games making its way to PC. It's one of the few PlayStation exclusives to be making the jump, with a planned release this summer. It'll be joined by the PC release of Kojima Productions' Death Stranding, which was also developed on Guerrilla Games' Decima Engine.
