Guts Man Is Coming to Street Fighter 5, and He's Bringing His Whole Ass

Now you too can own this Robot Master's majestic power.

Guts Man, the hulking Robot Master from the very first Mega Man game, is coming to Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition. While it'd be awesome to see the huge fellow wreck the titular Street Fighters in the flesh (or "in the sheet metal," as it were), he's only making a cameo as a skin for Balrog.

Capcom announced Guts Man's planned visit earlier today on Twitter. Starting February 15, you'll be able to grab the costume in Extra Battle Mode. Guts Man is covering up Balrog, the long-time Street Fighter boxer who the villainous M. Bison calls upon whenever he needs some hired muscle.

If you're familiar with Street Fighter 5 and Extra Battle Mode, then you probably already know you gotta fight for your right to bear Guts Man's arms. The fighting game news site and community Event Hubs has the details. The first battle is available on February 15, and you must defeat Guts-Balrog several times over until you require the four gems necessary to complete the costume set. Each attempt at Event Battle costs 2500 Fight Money.

Capcom's been going to town on Street Fighter 5 crossover costumes for a while now. These costumes might be your last, best hope for any hands-on time with seemingly forgotten heroes like Viewtiful Joe and Captain Commando. Fight. Fight to keep their memories alive. Henshin a-go go indeed.

You know what's not forgotten? The Guts Man's Ass meme. The first response to Capcom's Twitter announcement—which comes from the official Mega Man account, by the way—is my "I get that reference!" moment for the day.
