Halloween Event for Pokémon GO Introduces First Generation Three Pokémon

Prepare for a ghostly Pokémon encounter this week.

Spooky scary Pokémon send shivers down your spine. Pokémon GO introduced some new Pokémon in time for an event celebrating All Hallow's Eve—and the event doubles as an introduction for the first handful of third-gen Pokémon.

From October 20 at 12:00 PM PDT through November 2 at 1:00 PM PDT, Pokemon GO players will be able to spot and catch Sableye, Banette, Duskull, Dusclops, and Shuppet. These scary little dudes also mark the first appearance of gen-three Pokémon in Pokémon GO.

Of course, ghostly Pokémon GO mainstays like Gastly and Haunter will be out trick-or-treating, too.

Additional treats for the event include doubled Candy rewards for catching and hatching Pokémon. You can nab a special Pikachu wearing a witch's hat, and your avatar can wear a new accessory, "Mimikyu’s Disguise Hat."

I'm happy Pokemon Go is (sort of) kicking off gen-three, but I get sad when I think about how many generations I need to wait before I can catch an actual Mimikyu.
