If you dreamed of owning a magical pet to go with your wizard experience, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is adding pets to its free-to-play mobile game. You'll have to buy them using the game's premium currency however.
In the world of Harry Potter there are sometimes pets that students can keep. Owls are the de facto pet for students, but there were other pets like rats, cats, and toads. In Hogwarts Mystery you'll be able to purchase these same animals as pets. You can keep all four of these animals in your dorm, and you can have one of them follow you around the grounds.
Each pet will cost between 160 and 320 gems. Players can usually purchase a pack of 130 gems for $4.99 USD, but you can also earn gems through the game itself. Although earning gems is much, much slower than just buying gems outright.
Each pet will generate some Energy, which is required to partake missions and use actions in Hogwarts Mystery. The use of energy in Hogwarts Mystery has been criticized for being too strict, and the game has become associated with heavy microtransactions.
We do have a Hogwarts Mystery guide with tips and gem earning tricks that will hopefully help you get the most out of your time as a student at the famous wizarding school.
