Here's a Preview of Halo Recruit Running in Mixed Reality

343 Industries worked on a Mixed Reality "experience" for Halo.

Microsoft recently held a big unveiling event for a series of Windows mixed reality headsets. To show them off Microsoft premiered a preview for Halo Recruit, a Halo-experience built for virtual reality.

It should be noted that this isn't a VR Halo game as it is a short, five-minute experience designed to test out VR technology. Dubbed "Halo Recruit" 343 Industries head Kiki Wolfkill wrote in a blog post that "this isn't a game or even a part of a game - it is a light introduction to the world of Halo and some of its most iconic characters.. Oh, and its weapons and maybe a warthog."

You can check out the full preview over at Road to VR, or check out their captured gameplay video below. Halo Recruit is comprised of several small experiences including a VR encyclopedia where you can get up close with various Halo enemies, or you can try out a VR shooting gallery using classic Halo pistols.

Halo Recruit will be available to try out in participating Microsoft Stores, or as a free download from the Windows Store starting October 17. Of course you will need a Windows Mixed Reality headset, of which you can find the full line-up of newly announced headsets here.
