Here's a Two Hour Documentary About Sony Santa Monica's Struggle to Revive God of War

Raising Kratos is a full-length film about how God of War was made.

God of War came out in April 2018 to overwhelming critical acclaim and went on to sweep a bunch of Game of the Year awards. If you were one of the many millions of players who journeyed with Kratos into the north, and want to find out more on how Sony Santa Monica rebooted the god of war, you can do so today in this full-length, behind-the-scenes documentary on the making-of God of War.

One year after the release of God of War Sony has decided to give fans an in-depth look at how the team at Sony Santa Monica revived Kratos. In a PlayStation blog Sony says this documentary is a chance to tell the story about the people behind the game.

"The ultimate goal was to go beyond a 'making of' piece and dig deeper into the experiences of those who spent relentless time and effort into making something great," says Worldwide Studios, America game development boss Scott Rohde.

The documentary uses over 400 hours of footage that shows what was happening at Sony Santa Monica throughout the development of God of War. Sony invites players to watch "this cinematic journey of second chances rooted in family, sacrifice, struggle, and doubt."

"The hope is that once people see the experience of Santa Monica Studio unfold on the screen, they will recognize the undying passion for their work and the incredible respect they have for their craft."

God of War 2018 took the Kratos people knew, an angry and violent Greek god, and turned him into someone more relatable.
