Here's Nier Reincarnation Gameplay From a Mobile Beta

Our first look at the game's exploration and battle systems.

It seems like closed beta testing for Nier Reincarnation is happening right now. One video of extended gameplay has surfaced online, giving us our first proper look at the mobile game in the Nier franchise.

You can check out the extended gameplay from Nier Reincarnation just below. It definitely seems like this is gameplay from the very start of the game, showing the player character adventuring around some 2D ruinous environments (not too dissimilar from Nier Automata's massive tower).

But then once you're through the opening credits sequence, the game switches to playing out in full 3D, with the player character running around what looks like an open world environment. It looks like Reincarnation will be switching between 2D, 3D, and fixed camera gameplay portions.

We also get a clear look at the battle system in the video above. It looks like Reincarnation's combat is based around an active time battle system, where you're waiting for abilities to charge up to unleash upon waves of foes, while fighting alongside AI ally characters.

Currently, there's still no release date for Nier Reincarnation, although it'll be launching on both Android and iOS systems. A western release for the game hasn't actually been confirmed by Square Enix, but director Yoko Taro's other mobile game, SINoALICE, finally released in the west earlier this month. SINoALICE launched in the west after first releasing in 2017 in Japan, so although it might be a long wait, there's hope yet for a Nier Reincarnation localization for a western release.
