Here's Persona 5 Royal's Opening Cinematic

Take your heart, again.

There's now just over a month to go until Persona 5 Royal releases… in Japan, at least. While western regions will have to wait until Spring 2020 for the re-release, we can now get a glimpse at the opening cinematic for the game.

You can see the Persona 5 Royal opening cinematic just below, courtesy of Atlus' Japanese YouTube channel. This is what will play every time you boot up the game, which will then go into the main menu.

For the Persona 5 Royal opening, we've got the full roster of Phantom Thieves in attendance. There's Ren, Morgana, Ryuji, Ann, Futaba, Haru, Makoto, Yusuke, and even Akechi and Kasumi, the latter being an entirely new character for the re-release.

For reference, you can see the original Persona 5 opening cinematic just below. The opening for the 2017 original featured only Ren, Morgana, Ryuji, Ann, and Yusuke, which are chronologically the first five members of the Phantom Thieves (in the original game, at least).

Persona 5 Royal releases on October 31 in Japan, only on the PS4. It'll be available in Spring 2020 for the US and Europe, and for a complete recap of everything we know so far about the game, you can head over to our Persona 5 Royal guide.

He's written for The Guardian, Paste Magazine, and Kotaku, and he likes waking up when the sun rises and roaming the nearby woods with the bears and the wolves.
