Here’s What Isabelle Is Up to in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

So long, government. Hello, Tom Nook.

Isabelle was introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf as the energetic secretary who assists the player in running their town. And while she's appeared in a few games since, players have been wondering what her role would be in New Horizons.

Shown during today's Animal Crossing Direct, it looks like Isabelle has left the public sector behind in favor of the private sector and one Tom Nook, of Nook, Inc. The former secretary will be helping the player handle the image of their island, from changing the flag and tune of their getaway to performing island evals. Considering we dumped the majority of our work on her in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, it's nice that she's both getting a vacation and probably making some bank in the process.

Isabelle is sort of the Kaz Miller to your Venom Snake. She also seems to have quickly adjusted to island life, donning her own fun tropical shirt. As the Direct narrator notes, Isabelle is an expert in operational support. That may not include slaying demons with her pal Doomguy, but at least she's found some stable work.

There was plenty of new information in today's Direct, from some cool new items to fill your island with to designs that can transfer in from older Animal Crossing games. Nintendo also confirmed that while it would have save data recovery for your island in the case of theft or damage, you can only bring it back once.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons jets off for an island getaway on March 20, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch.
