Heroes of the Storm Gets a Reaper of Souls Infusion This Summer

The guy on the cover of Diablo 3's expansion will now cover your team in Blizzard's MOBA.

Following the addition of Overwatch characters Genji and D.Va, Heroes of the Storm is highlighting a future character from an older Blizzard property. The newest hero is Malthael, the eponymous Reaper of Souls from the Diablo 3 expansion of the same name.

"Once the Aspect of Wisdom, Malthael abandoned heaven after the Worldstone's destruction. In secret, he had resolved to end the Eternal Conflict by becoming a Reaper of Souls and eliminating everything affected by demonic corruption, including humanity," says the hero's official synopsis.

Malthael will be an Assassin-class hero. With his Reaper's Mark ability, he can mark a target for 4 seconds causing them to take a percentage of their health as damage. Reaper's Mark also sets up Malthael's other abilities, like Soul Rip, which damages a marked enemy and heals Malthael; or Wraith Strike, which teleports Malthael to his marked target.

The video showing off Malthael also highlights new beach-themed skins for Tychus, Tracer, and Stitches, new surfboard and Whimsyshire Cloud mounts, summer-themed sprays, and a host of other skins and sprays.

If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
