Two gorgeous games are coming to the Nintendo Switch, thanks to the power of the cloud. Control Ultimate Edition and Hitman 3 are set to launch on the Nintendo Switch, both utilizing cloud technology to make it happen.
Announced during this morning's Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, both of these games will be playable on the Nintendo handheld. The trick is, according to the fine text of today's trailers, you'll need a "persistent high-speed internet connection."
You won't have to wait long to see how it works, though. While Hitman 3 doesn't have a Switch launch date, Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version is out on the Nintendo eShop today.
This isn't Nintendo's first brush with cloud technology. Both Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Resident Evil 7 have been made playable on the Nintendo Switch before thanks to a cloud version. The catch was, those versions were limited to Japan.
Now, it looks like Remedy Entertainment and IO Interactive will be making the push for the Switch's cloud gaming potential in the U.S. Maintaining a stable internet connection is a somewhat-tricky prospect; the advantage of the Switch is that it's portable, and not everywhere in the States has stellar Wi-Fi. Still, if the goal is to make something like Control playable on Switch, cloud gaming seems like a method for doing it.
Control Ultimate Edition - Cloud Version is out today on the Nintendo Switch eShop. No date has been specified for Hitman 3's Switch version, though its other versions are set for Jan. 20, 2021.
