Hitman 3 Will Be a Timed Epic Exclusive on PC [Update]
Also, Agent 47 becomes Inspector 47.
Update [11:45 a.m. PT]: IO Interactive has confirmed on its blog that the Epic exclusivity will last for 12 months from launch. Our original story follows:
Agent 47's newest exploits won't be coming to Steam right away. Today, Epic Games and IO Interactive announced that when Hitman 3 launches this coming January, it will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for PC players.
In a press release, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak confirmed that fans who have been playing the series already will still be able to carry over their Hitman 3 progress. "Self-publishing Hitman 3 is a big step for IO Interactive in achieving our highly ambitious goals as an independent studio," said Abrak. "Furthermore, this partnership with Epic has given us the freedom to create the game exactly as we imagined, for our fans and for our community uncompromised."
We got another glimpse of what that game will look like today, as IO also released a trailer for a new location coming in Hitman 3. Set in Dartmoor, England at the Thornbridge Manor, this location takes a leaf from the likes of Knives Out and Agatha Christie. A highly suspicious death among a wealthy family has taken place, and an inspector has been called in. The detective, though, might be a little more familiar with murder than the family suspects.
Hitman 3 is the conclusion to the "World of Assassination" trilogy started with 2016's Hitman. Much like Hitman 2, the third entry in this reboot trilogy will let players carry forward locations and progress from previous games. Yes, you can still experience the wonders of the Monaco raceway and Paris showstopper event in Hitman 3. The third game will even be adding VR support for PlayStation VR, so you can get a good look at the world and your targets.
Hitman is currently set for Januray 2021. It'll be launching for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
