How to Watch Today's 2019-Centric Nintendo Direct
It's looking like a packed 40 minutes or so.
The fall season is closing in quickly, and Nintendo is looking to brief us on what's to come before we're all mired in new games. Nintendo is set to host a new Direct later today, centered mostly on what's to come for the rest of the year.
Luigi's Mansion 3 and Pokemon Sword and Shield have already been noted as appearing in the Direct, though there's a laundry list of other potential updates that could be coming. The stream is set to start at 3 p.m. Pacific, and you can find it embedded below or on the Nintendo site.
What could be coming? Link's Awakening is set to launch pretty soon and it's a remake of a well-known, in some cases beloved Legend of Zelda game, so I don't think it's terribly likely we see anything about that. Banjo is still waiting in the wings for his Smash debut, though rumors of an SNK character coming to the Nintendo platform brawler has social media in a tizzy. I sure hope they're okay, maybe someone should ask them?
A quick listing and delisting of an Overwatch Nintendo Switch case, alongside a report today from Kotaku, indicates an Overwatch on Switch announcement as well. It makes complete sense, especially considering Blizzard's success with Diablo 3 on the hybrid console. I have to wonder what kind of scaling has been done and what connectivity will be like on the more-mobile console, but it's hard to deny that Overwatch is an appealing get. (Do Hearthstone next, though.)
The Nintendo Switch Lite is also just around the corner, and not only is it portable perfection, but it passes the Mike Williams Pocket Test with flying colors. There haven't been too many earth-shattering Switch reissues, so I'd love to see some special edition consoles come out now that the time is ripe for double-dipping on the system.
It wouldn't be outlandish to expect some left-field news either. Considering Nintendo's filling 40 minutes of time with today's Direct, I'm hoping for some surprises. Though really, all I want is one thing:
