October will be getting some spooky games, and one ghostly entry has entered the fray. I Am Dead, a story about investigating items from the great beyond, will launch on Oct. 8, 2020.
Accompanying the news today is a new trailer, which shows just how the ghosts of Shelmerston island can interact with items and learn more. It seems a little like a mix of Ghost Trick and various interactive diorama games, where investigating objects will lead to new insights.
I Am Dead is being published by Annapurna Interactive, an indie publisher that has curated a pretty strong collection of independent games over the years. This one seems no different. Developed by Hollow Ponds and Richard Hogg, the creators behind Hohokum and Wilmot's Warehouse, I Am Dead seems like a pretty cute and intriguing experience.
From our impressions earlier this year, it seems like I Am Dead is set to be another fascinating indie experience. With all the next-gen console hype and build-up about new games and console hardware, I'm actually pretty drawn towards a game I can unwind a bit with at the end of the day. Just some coffee, my Switch, and a little game about a museum curator's ghost and his canine companion exploring an island in the afterlife.
With such a charming aesthetic and a dog companion, this will likely be less Halloween horror and more of a bittersweet sad story. Still, I'm always eager to see what overwhelming emotions Annapurna's games will subject me to. I Am Dead is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on Oct. 8, 2020.
