For the first time in the FIFA series, the Women's World Cup tournament and all 22 Women's National Teams have been added to the newest FIFA game as free content DLC. You can play as the 22 teams today in FIFA 19.
The 22 Women's National Teams competing in this year's Women's World Cup in France will all be playable, including 10 teams new to the game. The Women's National Team kits and crests will be authentic to their real-life counterparts, and the Stade de Lyon soccer stadium and final match ball have been added into the game as part of the Final Match DLC.
The 22 teams include: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China PR, England, France, Germany, Jamaica, Japan, South Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, and USA.
EA says not every team's roster is currently authentic, but post-launch squad updates and ratings will be released as the Women's World Cup progresses. Similarly, while the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 19 will get all the newly added Women's National Teams, the Final Match content with the Stade de Lyon stadium and final ball will not be available on Nintendo's console. All the new Women's World Cup content is playable through the Kick-Off menu.
EA first added women's soccer teams in FIFA 16 and World Cup DLC during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. But this is the first time the Women's World Cup has been added into a mainline FIFA game. Perhaps this will contribute to the growing recognition of Women's National Soccer, which in the US at least, has had much greater success than their male counterparts.
