Ion Maiden Delayed to 2019, Limited Collector's Edition and Multiplayer Beta Announced

3D Realms' retro throwback is thrown forward.

Ion Maiden, 3D Realms and Voidpoints' throwback retro 90s FPS is getting a classic multiplayer mode when the game comes out in early 2019 for PC, Mac, and Linux. The multiplayer beta will also be open to players who purchased Ion Maiden in Steam Early Access.

Like the rest of the game, Ion Maiden's multiplayer is being described as a fast-paced, classic affair which will no doubt also feature some of that retro 90s charm. The multiplayer beta will be available sometime close to launch so perhaps either end of 2018 or early 2019.

Ion Maiden was originally set to come out in Q3 2018, but 3D Realms and Voidpoint have decided to delay the game to early 2019 to add more polish. To make up for it, the two developers have announced a limited-edition Ion Maiden Founder's Edition big box. Only 500 units will be made, and it will cost $99.99. You can see the trailer for it above.

Included in the Founder's Edition is a 6'' Bombshell figurine of the main heroine, the original soundtrack, an Ion Maiden mousepad, poster, bowling bomb sticker, lanyard, 3 1:1 scale key card magnets, and a "Coming Soon" catalogue for 3D Realms' upcoming projects.

Ion Maiden is a retro 90s FPS starring Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison. Ion Maiden is a prequel to 3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment's Bombshell, a Duke Nukem-esque heroine in terms of style and personality. Ion Maiden is a much better outing for Harrison and from what I've played, a genuinely fun throwback to the era.

You can check out the Founder's Edition at the official Ion Maiden website. If you purchased Ion Maiden in Early Access you can link your Steam account for a 10 percent discount off the Founder's Edition.

Correction: An earlier version of this story called Bombshell a FPS, it is a top-down RPG. We regret this error and the story has been changed to reflect these changes.
