Is Borderlands 3 Coming to Steam On PC?

Borderlands 3 has been revealed as an Epic Store exclusive, but will it make its way onto Steam in the future?

Borderlands 3 looks set to be the best entry into the series yet, with over a billion weapons to play with and four new Vault Hunters to meet. The gaming landscape has changed a lot since the last entry in the series however, most notably in that Steam no longer has a monopoly on the PC gaming space. As a result, fans have been wondering whether Borderlands 3 is coming to Steam at all, and how an Epic Store exclusivity deal might affect this. To help set the record straight, we’ve put together this Borderlands 3 Steam Release Guide. We’ll take a look at the Borderlands 3 Epic exclusivity, and answer the question of whether or not Borderlands 3 will be coming to Steam and other PC platforms at any point in the near future.

Borderlands 3 Epic Exclusivity

Shortly after Borderlands 3 was announced, Gearbox revealed that it had struck a deal with Epic to make Borderlands 3 an Epic exclusive on PC. This means that at launch, Borderlands 3 will not be available via Steam. Though this could change, as we’ll cover below:

Will Borderlands 3 Come to Steam in the Future?

Despite Borderlands 3 currently being an Epic Store exclusive, it is likely that it will eventually release on Steam. This is because the exclusivity deal is timed, for six months in fact. This means that Borderlands 3 could make its way to Steam as early as April 2020. Epic explained as much in a recent press release, which reads as follows:

At launch on September 13, Borderlands 3 will be available for PC exclusively through the Epic Games store. Borderlands 3 will be available on additional PC digital storefronts in April 2020.
