Jade is Back in Mortal Kombat 11 With a Surprising New Look

She looks a little under the weather.

Mortal Kombat 11 announced the latest character to join its growing roster, and it's the assassin Jade. Jade is sporting a rather corpse-y look this time around, and returns with some new moves and abilities.

Jade was first introduced in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Her usual kit includes a staff, hidden blades, and resistance to projectiles. Those all look to be back, but this time her staff retracts in-and-out like a lightsaber, while her projectile immunity now seems to deflect attacks also. You can watch her Mortal Kombat 11 appearance in the new trailer below.

Jade's finisher isn't as flashy, but it's still pretty nasty. It looks like she can puncture out her opponent's eyes using her retractable staff, before slicing them in half. Mortal Kombat's finishers have never really been my thing, but so far the finishers for Mortal Kombat 11 look extra gory.

Jade hasn't been fully playable since 2011's Mortal Kombat. She made a cameo appearance in Mortal Kombat X but returns as a full fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. During the Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event, director Ed Boon said fans should expect to see more fan favorite characters returning for this entry into the violent fighting franchise.

We've seen that play out with the inclusion of Baraka and Skarlet, so it seems like a good bet to dig into Mortal Kombat's popular characters list to figure out the next fighter reveal. There's also enough room on the roster for new characters like Geras as well.
