Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Pays Tribute to the Original Battlefront’s Best Droids

Medical and Gonk Droids were lifesavers back in the day.

Jedi: Fallen Order might be the hot new property on the Star Wars games market, but it doesn't forget what came before it. Back in 2004, at the time of the original Star Wars Battlefront on the Xbox and PS2, two droids were lifesavers on the battlefield.

The Medical Droid and the Gonk Droids were the supporting stars of the original Star Wars Battlefront. The Medical Droid (the taller one), would heal you at a fairly steady rate, while the Gonk Droid would dispense ammo to you.

In Jedi: Fallen Order, you can find both of these droids, as seen in the screenshot above from Reddit user u/Tomface92. Looks like the dynamic duo have certainly fallen into disrepair in Cal Kestis' adventure, and they're definitely a relic of the past. The Medical Droids don't appear in the two latest Battlefront games from EA Dice, and the Gonk Droids will patrol certain levels, but won't hand out ammo to you.

Gonk Droid, we love you. You saved our skin countless times in the original Battlefront, which I actually picked up and played a couple years back on an old Xbox 360. It still holds up as a basic but fun multiplayer shooter, believe it or not.

It's not just the Medical and Gonk Droids that are nods to the history of Star Wars. For a complete list of all the references we've found to the films throughout Respawn's game, head over to our Jedi: Fallen Order easter eggs guide.
