Jessie From Final Fantasy 7 Remake May Have Life in Her Yet
The AVALANCHE wildcat has vowed not to slip into the Lifestream until she's jumped Cloud's bones. Well, that's my headcanon.
Part one of Final Fantasy 7 Remake has already breathed new life into Final Fantasy 7's secondary characters. The resisters belonging to AVALANCHE are part of the newly fleshed-out cast, and we learn a lot more about them in Remake.
One AVALANCHE member, the irrepressible Jessie Rasberry, made an especially big impression. There was a lot of hullabaloo on social media when she [REDACTED]. But a recent tidbit of information from Square Enix has Twitter wondering if we'll meet Jessie in part two of Remake, despite the unfortunate events that transpire near the climax of part one.
Yesterday on Twitter, Japanese business owner and translator "aitaikimochi" posted a snippet from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Ultimania, an enormous hardcover "strategy guide" released in Japan last April. In the snippet, Remake co-director Motomu Toriyama talks about Jessie's love for tinkering with machinery. He also mentions that Jessie's house is filled with pictures from when she performed at the Gold Saucer (true), and adds "I would like to have her reappear on stage at the Gold Saucer once more, someday."
There are a couple of ways you can take this comment. It might be a passing thought about how it'd be fun to make a game about Jessie performing on stage—an offshoot game inspired by another offshoot game, if you will. But Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans on social media are wondering if Toriyama is hinting (or let slip carelessly) that Jessie is alive, well, and living her best life over at the Gold Saucer. If that's the case, will we meet her in part two of Remake? Will she remember Cloud and his pals, or will the trauma of certain events wipe her memory clean?
Even if the Final Fantasy 7 Remake team never had any intention of bringing Jessie back into the story, Jessie's surprise popularity might make them change their minds for part two. If she comes back, I want to see her hook up with Cloud. Just once. I'm sure Tifa and Aeris would be cool with it.
