We have some exciting news to share! Next weekend is Extra Life 2019, and for the first time ever, USgamer is getting in on all the fundraising fun with a 24-hour marathon stream with games, guests, and a long lineup of activities. It's time to give until it hurts (Eric, from a lack of sleep).
Our very own Eric Van Allen, news editor extraordinaire, will stream from noon Central Time on Saturday, Nov. 2 to noon the following day. Along the way, he'll bring on a gaggle of folks from around the Gamer Network, as well as other sites and scenes, in order to raise funds for Child's Play and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.
How can you get involved? You can head over to our team page to get the lowdown on all the specifics, as well as to read up on Child's Play and Extra Life. As this is our first year, we've set a modest goal, so we're looking forward to hopefully achieving above and beyond what we expect! All your donations are tax-deductible.
On the day of the stream, you can head over to USG's Twitch channel and watch as Eric slowly unravels over the course of 24 hours. He's not a newcomer to the 24-hour stream, having done it several times in the past solo and as part of a team.
What games are on deck, you might ask? We've already got plans for some Apex Legends with the USG crew, some fighting games, and possibly a big Jackbox party. There are also a few GOTY-candidates we'll take the time to get familiar with, as well as some games we can pull the community into!
We'll have a full guest list and schedule closer to the event, but for now, mark the date and follow the Twitch channel. We're planning to start November right: with charitable giving, gaming, and a really difficult Monday.
