SNK has announced (translated via Gematsu) that King of Fighters XIV will be getting a new fighter and stage as downloadable content. The character is the result of a social media contest run by Manga Productions in the Middle East. Entries came from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and more.
SNK staff, including The King of Fighters XIV producer Yasuyuki Oda, character designer Eisuke Ogura, and art director Nobuyuki Kuroki, joined a selection committee to choose the final character for inclusion into the game.
The winning character is a female fighter named Najd, coming from Mashael Al-Barrak of Saudi Arabia. The winning stage is a modern day Masmak fort by Zainab Al-Lawaty of Oman. SNK has not given a release date for the new fighter and stage.
King of Fighters XIV is currently available on PlayStation 4 and PC.
