Kingdom Hearts 3 has only been out a mere week but has already reached five million units shipped. Square Enix took to Twitter to announce the milestone, thanking everyone who played the game so far.
According to our sister site GamesIndustry.Biz, a whopping 82 percent of Kingdom Hearts 3 players undertook their journey on PS4 in the UK, which speaks to the series' lineage on PlayStation consoles. There's currently no data on how Kingdom Hearts 3 performed in the US.

Kingdom Hearts 3 managed to dethrone Resident Evil 2 to top the UK gaming charts, and it's worth noting that this doesn't include digital downloads. There's been plenty of buzz around Square Enix's latest, as evidenced by the overwhelmingly positive reviews rendered by critics so far. We liked Kingdom Hearts 3 a whole lot too, praising the updated combat and fully-realized Disney worlds in our Kingdom Hearts 3 review.
We'll have to wait and see just how successful Kingdom Hearts 3 ends up being for Square, though early signs certainly seem promising. If you've picked up Kingdom Hearts 3 and need a helping hand getting through its nine action-packed worlds, be sure to check out our Kingdom Hearts 3 Guides Hub.
