Last week, Square Enix teased 'Project Xehanort' as a new Kingdom Hearts game for mobile. Today, the full official name for the project has been revealed, and it's actually pretty simple: Dark Road. With Dream Drop Distance and Birth Before Sleep behind us, I didn't see this one coming.
What this refers to, I have absolutely no idea. What we do know so far about Dark Road is that it focuses on Xehanort's fall to the darkness, with the tagline "Why did he become the seeker of darkness?"
The reveal of the name was actually meant to take place today, after just over a week of speculation. Dark Road instead got revealed yesterday, after a typo from Square Enix accidentally stated they'd reveal the name yesterday instead.
We also have a release window for the game: Spring 2020. Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road will release at some point over the next few months, and when it does it'll be arriving on both iOS and Android devices. Whether this is at the same time remains to be seen.
Additionally, the 'Guess the Name' campaign for Dark Road on Twitter has concluded. It would've taken a minor miracle for you to actually guess a fairly straightforward name for a Kingdom Hearts game.
