Kirby Fighters 2 Leaks on Nintendo's Own Site

Kirby Fighters 2 Leaks on Nintendo's Own Site

Kirby's getting back into brawling.

A new Kirby game has leaked, and from a pretty unlikely source. The existence of Kirby Fighters 2 was revealed this morning by a sudden listing on Nintendo's website.

The game Kirby Fighters 2 popped up on Nintendo's site, with a full price and listing. It's since been taken down, but that hasn't stopped Twitter users like Wario64 from preserving the errant listing.

Originally a side mode that became a 3DS eShop standalone game, the original Kirby Fighters is a Smash Bros.-adjacent multiplayer brawler. According to Kirby Fighters 2's listing, you can choose from a number of Kirby's copy abilities, including a new Wrestler type, and duke it out. Kirby Fighters 2 was listed at $19.99.

While we already have Kirby in Super Smash Bros, which has confirmed that he is truly the mightiest of Nintendo's pantheon, it sounds like more brawling with the ever-ravenous pink protagonist is in our future. Other Kirby mainstays, King Dedede and Bandana Waddle Dee, are also set to appear in Kirby Fighters 2 according to the listing.

Of course, this has once again spun up speculation over whether a new Nintendo Direct is imminent. Nintendo's Direct presence has been fairly sparse, with its last major first-party Direct focused on Mario's 35th anniversary and the reveal of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection that recently launched.

Most of Nintendo's other presentations over the last few months have opted for more indie-focused and partner news. Various streams throughout the summer have revealed a number of upcoming Nintendo Switch games, including Monster Hunter Rise, the Breath of the Wild-themed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and the long-awaited Shin Megami Tensei 5. If something is on the horizon for Kirby, it's unclear what format that news might be revealed in or when.
