Kojima Productions is Planning to Work on Multiple Projects, Including One "Big" Game

Yoji Shinkawa seems interested in manga, too.

Hideo Kojima has often stated his desire to work on other forms of media. Now that Death Stranding is out, it sounds like his studio's been freed up to work on a number of new projects—and not just games, either.

In the Feb. 6, 2020 issue of Famitsu (translation via DualShockers), Kojima gives an interview alongside longtime collaborator Yoji Shinkawa. The pair, and Kojima Productions, are now looking at what the studio's sophomore effort will be.

They mention a few different ideas, like a manga drawn by Shinkawa or an anime project, featuring some mecha designs from Shinkawa. Of course, movies are also a topic; Kojima has said in the past that he'd like to make some films at Kojima Productions.

But in terms of games, Kojima Productions is apparently planning to work on multiple game projects, one of which is a "big" game. Kojima also expresses some interest in smaller games, like episodic or digital-only titles, but he hopes to do some while working on this larger project.

Whatever it might be seems fairly open. Death Stranding did leave a few threads dangling at the very end, though it'd be difficult to imagine Kojima returning to the UCA so soon. The debut game from Kojima Productions did fairly well in light of some tough competition, and it has garnered some critical acclaim as well.

If Kojima's got carte blanche to produce what he wants now, it'll be interesting to see where he goes, though I hope he chases that mecha feeling a bit more. What if we delivered packages, but as a giant robot?
