A demo for Final Fantasy 7 Remake has leaked online, and already, dataminers are combing through the files to uncover any info they can about what's coming. Among the files and folders, it looks like we might have some confirmation that Final Fantasy won't be limited to just consoles.
Users sifting through files have posted to social media, saying there are "many signs" inside the demo that a PC port is coming sooner or later. "There is PC code still left inside, and it mentions various higher resolutions together with some NVIDIA and AMD stuff," one Twitter user who's been going through the leak says.
An update to the game's box art already let slip that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive until March 3, 2021. That's about a year for PlayStation users to have it all to themselves before the door opens for other platforms.
A PC port would make the most sense, seeing as many other Final Fantasy games have found their way to home computers over the years. Many other PlayStation console exclusives, like Death Stranding and the popular MLB The Show series, are headed to new platforms too. It's looking like we'll see just how far graphics cards can push the new look of Midgar once the clock's run out on Final Fantasy 7 Remake's exclusivity.
We got some other glimpses of the Remake through the demo leak this morning as well, including a look at Red XIII and other main story characters. We won't detail them all here, though it's looking like some major story beats are finally out in the wild for the remake of this RPG classic.
