Resident Evil 3 Remake's Nemesis Wears a Mask, Leading to Some Interesting Theories

Resident Evil 3 Remake's Nemesis Wears a Mask, Leading to Some Interesting Theories

Masking the pain.

Just yesterday, we got our best looks at Nemesis in the Resident Evil 3 Remake. Now certain details have been spotted in the new trailer for Nemmy, including his stylish new mask.

Below, you can see the full Nemesis trailer for the Resident Evil 3 Remake. The monster certainly looks stronger and more terrifying than Mr. X from the Resident Evil 2 Remake, even when the latter mutated at the end of the game.

As one post on the Resident Evil subreddit picked up on, Nemesis dons a mask at certain points in the trailer. In the original Resident Evil 3, Nemesis' never actually wore a mask, but we can see plenty of instances in the trailer where Nemesis' full head is exposed. Could Jill Valentine or Carlos Oliviera shoot Nemesis' mask to shreds?

Another post shows that when Jill runs down Nemesis with a car, the Tyrant is also wearing a mask in this scene too. So it looks like Nemesis will be wearing a mask near the beginning of the Resident Evil 3 Remake, but it'll be coming off at some point over the course of the game.

This is an interesting detail because in the original Resident Evil 3, Nemesis' suit was used to hold back his mutations. Could his mask work in a similar way in the remake, so all the footage we've seen of Nemesis' face is after the mutations have taken hold when his mask is removed?

Whatever the case, we'll find out for sure when the Resident Evil 3 Remake releases on April 3, 2020. It was already going up against Cyberpunk 2077 later in the month, but Square Enix just recently delayed the Final Fantasy 7 Remake to April 10, so Capcom's remake will be launching just ahead of some stiff competition.
