Lucky Pokemon Coming to Pokemon Go

Lucky Pokemon Coming to Pokemon Go

You're in luck, Pokemon Go players.

Lucky Pokémon are coming to Pokémon Go. No, we're not talking about another Chansey evolution (thank Arceus). In this instance, Lucky Pokémon feature a special status screen background, and appear to require 50% less Stardust to power up.

"Chrales," a Pokémon Go player who's an expert at data-mining the game for future updates, shared some early glimpses of Lucky Pokémon on their Twitter account over the weekend. Aside from having a special background and less power-up requirements, a captured Lucky Pokémon also adds to a total count on your PokéDex.

A tweet made by Niantic's official Pokémon Go account over the weekend appears to confirm the existence of Lucky Pokémon. On the surface, the tweet is a benign question about Pokémon trades, but upon closer inspection, the Pokémon on-screen feature the magic glittery "Lucky" backgrounds these special new Pokémon are supposed to bear.

Lucky Pokémon will probably roll out with the next Pokémon Go update, which Pokémon Go Hub recently datamined. Overall, the impending update seems to be a biggie: Aside from Lucky Pokémon, we might also see Celebi encounters and the (very welcome) ability to sort our newly-implemented Friends lists.

Whenever these news and exciting updates make their way to Pokémon Go, you can bet we'll start singing like a flock of excited Chatots. In the meantime, our Pokémon Go guides contain everything you need to know about the game.
