Mario Maker 2 "Making Changes" That May Make it Possible to Play With Friends Online

Nintendo making some changes after outcry.

When Mario Maker 2 was announced last month, it soon came to light that it wouldn't be possible to play with friends online. This kicked off a firestorm that seems to have convinced Nintendo to reconsider.

"We are going to be making some changes to the matching with friends that you can play," a Nintendo representative said on today's Treehouse Live Twitch stream.

Nintendo originally said that it wouldn't be possible to play with friends owing to issues with the global leaderboards. It claimed that "matchmaking for competitive play would be compromised if you could play with friends." We'll see if this issue is resolved.

We had a chance to check out Mario Maker 2 at an event last month and we really liked it. It will be out June 28.

Okay, here's the next thing though, Nintendo. It's time to make that adorable themed stylus pen available in America.
