Marvel's Avengers Footage From San Diego Comic-Con Leaks Online

Marvel's Avengers Footage From San Diego Comic-Con Leaks Online

Because of course it did.

Crystal Dynamics showed off some new footage of Marvel's Avengers at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, behind panel doors and only for those there in-person. So, predictably, it leaked.

You can watch the shaky hand-cam footage online on various video sites like YouTube or find links in threads on forums like ResetEra. It shows off gameplay of major Avengers like Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk bashing their way across the damaged Golden Gate Bridge shown in E3 2019 footage. It's set to be released publicly and officially a week after Gamescom in August, but hey, it's also here right now.

This outcome was a little predictable, considering it's the second time Marvel's Avengers footage has leaked like this. Marvel is also no stranger to showing footage of Marvel films behind closed panel doors at major conventions. It's an effective way of driving interest, by making the footage feel exclusive, though the fact that this is the second time footage has been leaked by a camera in the crowd isn't doing Marvel's Avengers any charity.

Crystal Dynamics has been adamant in its take on the Avengers, defending it against early criticisms of the character designs. From what we saw at E3 2019, it nailed the scope and spectacle, but left a few important questions unanswered. Crystal Dynamics has until May 15, 2020 to tweak and tune the game, so we'll see over the coming year whether that actually happens.

In the meantime, there's another Marvel game that just hit the Nintendo Switch eShop today: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. If you're interested in it, be sure to check out our review of the game, and read up on our guide to unlocking all the Marvel heroes you could ever want.
