The public will finally get to see some footage of Crystal Dynamics' Avengers game, but only if they're lucky enough to get into Hall H. According to the panel listing for the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, the Marvel's Avengers panel will feature the "first public gameplay reveal for Hall H attendees only."
The panel, taking place in Hall H on Thursday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. PT, seems like it won't be streamed out to the online viewing public. If you want to get in and check it out, you better hope you're lucky.
While we saw gameplay of Marvel's Avengers at E3 2019, we were a little disappointed and ultimately felt Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was the better Marvel game at the show. Interest in seeing that demo was certainly high though, as footage of the behind-closed-doors gameplay demo leaked online during E3 2019. There's a high probability that a shaky hand-cam will be what captures this SDCC footage as well.
It's not an unheard-of tactic, especially for superhero movies. Marvel has shown footage of its movies to panel attendees behind-closed-doors at other events, and it still builds anticipation. But for this game, it might need more than a little interest to buff up its market presence.
Crystal Dynamics has tussled with comments on the appearance of its Avengers, and a lot of questions remain unanswered about how this game will pan out leading up to its May 15, 2020 release date. At least the folks in Hall H will learn more. If you want to stay up-to-date, head over to our Marvel's Avengers guide for all the tidbits we've gleaned thus far.
