Marvel's Avengers Will Also Have Limited-Time, PlayStation-Exclusive Cosmetics
It's looking like Sony's platform is the place to play.
Yesterday, we found out that everyone's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man was coming to Marvel's Avengers, but only on PlayStation platforms. Today, the PlayStation exclusive nature of the game continues. Over on the PlayStation Blog, Crystal Dynamics announced that Marvel's Avengers will have 30-day exclusive access to cosmetics for every hero.
"When it comes to cosmetics, PlayStation players will have 30-day exclusive access to a Legendary Outfit, Legendary Emote, Epic Takedown, and nameplate for each Super Hero as they are released–this is also for the six launch heroes," said Crystal Dynamics Community Manager Andy Wong in the post.
"In addition, we also have rewards for those with a PlayStation Plus subscription," Wong added. "For each Super Hero added to the game post-launch, Hawkeye included, all PS Plus members will receive a free bundle that contains a Rare Outfit, nameplate, and 100 Credits to celebrate the addition of another Avenger to the roster. At launch, we’ll have a free bundle for Ms. Marvel available for PS Plus members to embiggen our love for Kamala!"
This additional information comes at the end of a post describing ways to unlock new costumes and cosmetics in Marvel's Avengers. Community Challenges are monthly events that task the entire community with achieving certain objectives. Players can also unlock costumes, emotes, and more during the story campaign, from certain vendors, and through Avengers' online marketplace. Crystal Dynamics also revealed that Takedowns are on the list of cosmetics, special moves that are "among the flashiest moves you can equip".
Crystal Dynamics didn't win a lot of the points with Xbox and PC players from yesterday's announcement. Finding out that there are PlayStation-exclusive cosmetics, even for a limited time, probably isn't making those players any happier. This weekend's pre-order beta is PlayStation-exclusive as well, with Xbox and PC players getting to join in the following weekend.
We've spoken to Crystal Dynamics about the endgame in Marvel's Avengers previously, and we already know that Hawkeye will be joining the game post-launch. While Marvel's Avengers is coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia on September 4, 2020, players will be able to upgrade to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions for free.
