Miles Morales will get to star in his own game very soon with Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Before that, though, there's a prequel novel on the way to lead into the events of the game.
Revealed today over at IGN, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have a prequel novel called Wings of Fury, as well as an artbook dubbed "The Art of the Game." Written by Slay author Brittney Morris, the book will center on Miles as he deals with Vulture and Starling causing havoc with new, experimental tech.
It will be out just a few days before the Miles Morales game, on Nov. 10, 2020. The 288-page novel will lead "directly into the game itself," so you'll have a few days to get read up before Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches on Nov. 12.
The plans for next-gen Spider-Man have caused a bit of confusion in the past, though that's been clearing up the closer we get to the launch of the PS5. Miles Morales, which is a PS5 launch title, will also be coming to the PlayStation 4, and it will let PS4 owners freely upgrade to the PS5 version when they get the new console. Developer Insomniac has also confirmed saves will carry over, so you won't be losing any progress.
What's been a bit more strange is the next-gen remaster of 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man, which is coming as a sort-of packaged deal with Miles Morales. The situation required a bit of clarification from Sony and Insomniac, but essentially, the remaster is its own game, and won't be a free upgrade for current owners of the PS4 version. You'll need to either buy the Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales, or purchase it as an additional piece of content alongside a PS5 version of Miles Morales, to play the remastered Spider-Man.
So if you're looking to play a Spider-Man with the suspiciously Tom Holland-adjacent new face of Peter Parker, that's the route you'll need to go. If you're just looking to play Miles Morales, though, his game will launch on Nov. 12, 2020 for PS4 and PS5.
