Meet Lola Pop, Arms' New Clown Fighter, Woop Woop!

Lola Pop joins the fray.

You can't say Nintendo doesn't have a colorful cast of characters, but Arms just might take the cake. At Gamescom, Nintendo announced a new Arms character named Lola Pop who is an actual clown.

Nintendo says that Lola is a "a well-traveled clwon with a personality as colorful as her clothing." She's equipped a some nunchucks (very clown-like) and an expandable shield arm, along with the ability to blow up her body like a balloon. She appears to be geared towards a defensive style, though with Arms it's easy to mix-and-match play styles. She'll even get her own Arms stage which looks like a circus-themed, outdoor plaza.

Lola will come out as part of Arms' version three update, though there's no release date for the update just yet. She follows another DLC character, Max Brass, who was released last month.

If you haven't checked out Arms yet, Nintendo is offering a free weekend to try out the game. This is presumably to get more people interested in the fighting game as Nintendo continues to push it as a viable game in the competitive scene.

While the game features some sophistication, our review said the game will need more updates to feel like a complete game. Time will tell if the third update will go a long way in making Arms feel like the competitive fighter it aspires to be.
