The Xbox One might be coming to the end of this generation in third place, but Microsoft is pushing for interesting games for the platform. Today marked X019 presentation in London, Microsoft's showcase of all things Xbox. Microsoft previously confirmed that there will be no further Project Scarlett information at the event, so the focus was largely on current generation titles and Project xCloud.
The stream kicked out with brief trailers for Fortnite: Chapter 2 and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, before jumping into a brief talk with Fallen Order game director Stig Asmussen. Another trailer follow that also showed off a double-bladed lightsaber, which fans didn't know was a feature until the presser. Then it was on to all of the announcements.
X019 started strong with a reveal from Rare. The studio has been working on a brand-new project for Xbox One called Everwild. In an ethereal forest full of unique creatures, an older woman communes with the animals. There were very few details beyond that, like specific mechanics or an actual release date, but Rare getting a chance to make a new game is great.
Obsidian Entertainment's first game under the Xbox Game Studios label isn't an RPG! Instead, the studio revealed Grounded, a survival game where your character has been shrunk to tiny size like Ant-Man. Grounded is a mix of survival and building mechanics, where either a single player or a cooperative squad of four fight to thrive in a world where bugs are a threat. Do your best to not end up as spider food in your backyard! Grounded is coming to Xbox Game Preview in Spring 2020 and will eventually be on Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft also pushed Project xCloud heavily towards the middle of the presentation. The company is promising more than 50 games in the current preview program. In 2020, Project xCloud will also be coming to Windows 10 PCs. Onstage, the folks behind the streaming service will allow players to use alternate controllers, including the DualShock 4. Madden NFL 20 is available on the xCloud preview program today. Even further, Microsoft revealed that Project xCloud will be a part of Xbox Game Pass in the future.
Yakuza Coming to Game Pass
After breaking the PlayStation hegemony with PC releases, Yakuza is now coming to Xbox One. lWe're not getting everything Yakuza, but three of the games from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio—Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2—are headed to Xbox One. All three games will be on Xbox Game Pass in 2020.
Fans have been waiting for some time, and it's almost here. Halo: Reach will soon be a part of the Master Chief Collection. Reach is coming to Xbox One, Windows 10, and Xbox Game Pass on December 3, 2019. All of the Master Chief Collection will be available on Windows 10 and Steam, so be ready to enjoy Halo on PC again.
Age of Empires 4
Microsoft also finally showed of pre-alpha gameplay of Age of Empires 4 from Relic Entertainment. It's looking fantastic and according to Microsoft Studios general manager Shannon Loftis, that gameplay is what the team is playing in their offices. The Mongols and the English are the first two civilizations shown in the play. The dedicated Age of Empires studio has been established, called World's Edge. Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is also available on PC today.
Smilegate Entertainment's shooter Crossfire is coming to Xbox One soon. Announced at E3 2019, Crossfire X is a collaboration between Smilegate, Remedy Entertainment, and Xbox Game Studios. It's an arena shooter, but it's a very popular one in Korea, so perhaps this release will see the game's star rising in the West. Crossfire will be free-to-play on Xbox One in 2020.
Last Stop is an adventure game taking place in London, with three protagonists: John, Meena, and Donna. It looks like there's a bit of bodysnatching and supernatural shenanigans going on, but finding out what the deal is will likely be a part of the game. Last Stop is the latest title from Variable State, the folks behind the indie adventure Virginia. The game is "coming soon" with no firm release date.
Final Fantasy Comes to Xbox One
Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8: Remastered, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy X: HD Remaster, Final Fantasy X-2: HD Remaster, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy 13, Final Fantasy 13-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 are all coming to Xbox One and PC. Xbox boss Phil Spencer also told journalists that Final Fantasy 14 is going to make the transition to Xbox One in the future.
To close out the show, Xbox boss Phil Spencer talks about the excitement of bringing Wasteland 3 to Xbox One. He noted that Xbox One was light on major RPGs this generation and many of the announcements today were about fixing that. Wasteland 3 moves from the deserts to the frozen wilds of the post-apocalypse. It's coming on May 19, 2020 to Xbox One and PC.
Also Coming to Xbox One
There were two quick hit titles coming to Xbox One in this section. The PC survival game Rust is making its way to the platform, as is Kart Rider Drift. Both are coming to Xbox One in 2020. Frontier Development's pack-created simulation Planet Coaster is also making the transition over to consoles for the first time, with a release on Xbox One in Summer 2020.
X019 was a unique event, given there were no blockbuster exclusives announced, but Microsoft efforts to bring more games to Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass was a noticable push. In addition, Project xCloud might be in preview, but it's still looking stronger than Google Stadia at the moment. So while this presser was no Nintendo Direct, it still felt like a solid winner for Microsoft overall. It'll be interesting if these changes help the company as it moves into the next generation with Project Scarlett.
