MLB The Show 17's Servers Are Having Their Customary Launch Problems

Fans heading online to play are being met with 'Network Error' messages.

MLB The Show is known for its consistency, but the flipside of that is its consistent struggles with servers at launch.

With MLB The Show 17 now officially available, baseball fans are flooding online to play Diamond Dynasty and play with their friends. Unfortunately, a lot of people are having difficulty getting online at the moment. If you try to log in, you're apt to be met with a "Network Error" message, which precludes accessing a number of major features.

The subreddit was also filled with impatient fans wondering about the server issues, and the memes are naturally already flowing.

The Show's official Twitter feed acknowledged the issues and asked for fans to be patient.

This should be nothing new for longtime MLB The Show fans, as server issues have long been part and parcel of the experience. Whether because of the game's complexity or because of Sony San Diego's infrastructure, The Show seems to struggle with online issues more than most sports sims.

In any case, I checked in with Sony, and I'll update this post if the problems prove more serious than usual. Otherwise, sit tight and wait it out. These problems are usually ironed out within a few days at most.
