Monarch Reigns as the New Titan in Titanfall 2 DLC

A new Titan...falls.

The new Titan called Monarch descends on Titanfall 2 when a new batch of DLC releases for Respawn Entertainment’s First-Person Shooter/Mech game hybrid next week. Monarch will be released alongside two new maps to play in and a host of premium goods to purchase.

Monarch is the new, free Vanguard Titan that players will be able to choose from starting with the new DLC. Monarch’s ability is called the Upgrade Core, which lets the Titan gain new abilities the longer it stays alive. Players will also be able to customize the Titan's upgrad path so they’ll know exactly what ability they will receive when the survive past a certain point.

As for the new maps, one of them is an updated version of Relic from the first Titanfall, while the other is a new version of the existing map Crashsite. Crashsite will come complete with new walls and ziplines to traverse for better mobility.

Titanfall 2 will also include a set of paid premium skins for players who want to change-up the color and execution animation for their favorite titans. The two Titans receiving paid “Prime” upgrades will be Ronin and Tone.

You can check out the Monarch Reigns trailer above for all the mech vs. mech vs. human shooter chaos. The red accent on the Monarch titan in particular is pretty sweet, which makes me pretty excited to jump back into the game.

Last year was a surprisingly good year for shooters, with Titanfall 2 holding its own against other great FPS games like DOOM, Overwatch, and Battlefield 1. Between these four games, I hardly paid attention to any other game that didn’t involve a shooting reticle.

The Monarch Reigns DLC hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 30th.
