Monster Hunter 15th Anniversary Card Teases Something New

Monster Hunter has now been around for 15 years, and it’s going stronger than ever. To mark the franchise anniversary, Capcom has published a series of cards from developers who have worked on the franchise, one of which might contain a bit of a hidden message.

One of these cards is from Yasunori Ichinose, director of portable Monster Hunter games like Monster Hunter: Freedom and Freedom Unite, and it's caught the eye of a few fans over on Resetera.

The card from Ichinose, which you can see above, appears to spell out the word ‘NEXT.’ The letters have been outlined in red, courtesy of Resetera, but there’s currently no idea what the phrase NEXT could be teasing other than suggestions it refers to a new game being in development.

Looking to the immediate future of Monster Hunter, the Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter: World is still slated to launch in the latter half of 2019. Although Capcom previously stated that we’d be hearing more about the expansion in early 2019, there’s so far been no further news about the sizeable DLC coming later this year.
